What Is This Thing?

The Open Mic Crowd Score Challenge is a season-long, just-for-fun competition that runs alongside Open Mic Night.

Your score comes from crowd loudness — no judges, no panels, no politics. If the room reacts, you score.

Open Mic is open to everyone. Joining the challenge is optional.

How It Works

  1. Show up and sign up in person at 6:30 PM
  2. Choose whether you want to enter the Crowd Score Challenge ($5 if you do)
  3. Perform your set and bring the energy
  4. Your crowd loudness score gets added to your season scores

🔊 Pro Tip

Loud crowds love big moments. Hype your friends, win the room, have fun.

Season Scoring (How You Win)

  • Each time you enter, you earn one crowd score
  • You may earn up to 11 scores during the season
  • Only your best 6 scores count toward your final total
  • Miss a week? No problem. Bad night? It happens. Only the best ones count.

Translation: This is a “greatest hits” competition, not a perfect attendance award.

Entry Fee & Weekly Prize Pot

  • $5 entry fee each time you choose to compete
  • Horsetooth Tavern matches the entry count with an extra $5 per entry
  • All weekly pots roll into one season-ending payout

🎯 Weekly Pot Example

5 performers enter the challenge:

  • 5 × $5 entry fees = $25
  • Horsetooth Tavern adds 5 × $5 = $25

Total added to the pot that week: $50

Season Payout

  • One payout at the end of the season
  • Winner announced on March 25, 2026
  • Highest total of best 6 scores wins the pot
